WIBC 2015 Overview

Women in Business Conference Features 8 Speakers This Year

From an international expert in cyber-security who advises U.S. presidents to a New York Times best-selling writer known as the millionaire author, this year’s Women in Business Conference features eight speakers who will interest, excite, inspire and motivate attendees. The conference takes place at the Ottawa Conference and Event Centre on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Seventh Annual Women in Business Conference Features 8 Speakers This March

While the idea of a conference for women in business is not entirely new, conference founder Sandra Tisiot had more than just an idea – she had a plan of action. And today the Ottawa conference she brought to life, which takes place every March, is now in its seventh year.

A New, Shorter Name And Easy-To-Find Website

In its first four years, the event was called the Annual Eastern Ontario Women in Finance Charity Conference. In year five, the “Eastern Ontario” descriptor was dropped. Year six, it was the Women in Business and Finance conference. Now it’s simply known as the Women in Business Conference, an easy-to-remember name supported by an easy-to-find website: womeninbusinessconference.ca.

Supporting Ottawa’s Suits Me Charity

While “Charity” is no longer officially part of the name, the growing-in-popularity conference now gives even more to charity, with proceeds going to Suits-Me.ca, which helps Ottawa women in need of professional clothing to make that all-important good first impression.

Affiliated with the Eastern Ontario Women in Finance, an organization that advances its members interests year-round, the 2015 Women in Business conference has balance at the core of its mandate.

The Importance of Balance

As anyone involved in finance knows, the importance of “balancing the books” is essential. And so it goes with balancing the individual lives of women in business. As the conference mandate expresses: “We want you to connect and share, and to strengthen the facets of your life that keep you in balance: career, social, financial, community, and health and wellness.

To maintain that balance, every year the conference aims to showcase individuals who challenge and inspire, and motivate us all to make meaningful changes in our lives. “Each year, something a little different,” says conference founder Sandra Tisiot.

An Increase From 4 to 8 Speakers

This year, the conference features twice the usual number of accomplished speakers – eight rather than four – and in a break from the traditional format even includes a few men.

The additional speakers make for a fast-moving full-day conference, starting with registration at 8:30, lunch at noon and a concluding reception at 4:00.
All on Wednesday, March 11, 2015.
