WIBC17 Welcomes Jess Tomlin
The thing we can unquestionably say about one of our guest speakers at the Women in Business Conference this March is: her fiery red hair definitely matches her personality. We can only describe Jess Tomlin as a fearless leader: deeply passionate about her work; proudly stands up for what she believes in; and she will never cease to push the limits to make the world a better place.
After working in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and Asia for a range of actors including the World Bank, the UN and USAID, Jess led the “I am powerful” campaign for CARE Canada. She also worked with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), managing large-scale reform for the Agency that supports Palestinian Refugees in Jordan, the West Bank, Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.
Now, she’s the Head Honcho for The MATCH International Women’s Fund: a Canadian organization that puts money into the hands of brave women, girls, and trans* folks who are dismantling barriers, challenging perceptions, and finding solutions to some of the world’s biggest problems.
In her talk, Jess will be speaking about women around the world who are making change happen in their communities every day, in spite of it all. These women do so through innovation, intuitive ways of knowing and a deep determination. Her remarks will focus on only a few of the hundreds of solutions she witnesses in her role at The MATCH Fund, whether from Kenya, Nicaragua or Egypt.
